Returning Volunteers

Volunteer Home → Returning Volunteers

Thank you for coming back to volunteer at Edison — our school runs on families like yours. A few clearances renew each year, so here’s a quick checklist to make sure you’re all set before you jump back in.

✅ Your annual renewal checklist

Volunteer clearances expire each year (and some every few years). Take a few minutes to get current:

1Renew your registration in Arbiter.
Log in and submit the pre-filled form for the new school year. Go to your Arbiter Dashboard →
Click “Alameda Unified School District” and scroll to the bottom to find the L1–L3 program links. This will open a pre-filled application.

2Submit your Mandated Reporter Training Certificate (L2 & L3 volunteers).
As of July 1, 2026, ongoing (L2) and driving (L3) volunteers must complete a State-approved mandated reporter training every year. Good news — these are offered for free (about 67 minutes), and you upload your certificate of completion through Arbiter too. Level 1 (Limited) volunteers do not need this training.
Where to get the Mandated Reporter course:
English only: Keenan SafeSchools →
English, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Vietnamese: CDSS Volunteer Mandated Reporter Training →
After you’ve completed the test, download the certificate and upload it to your registration.

3Keep your TB test current.
A TB test or risk assessment is required every 4 years — check that yours hasn’t lapsed. Note: a TB test can be obtained from your general practitioner, or from clinics like Carbon Health.

4Drivers (L3): confirm your auto insurance is on file
…and that it meets the district’s coverage minimums.

✅ Not sure what’s expiring? Log into Arbiter to see your current status. If the mandated reporter course isn’t showing in your L2/L3 registration, contact AUSD Human Resources at 510-337-7070 and they’ll help you get set up.
