New to volunteering at Edison? Here’s everything you need to get started.
There’s no better way to feel at home at Edison than to jump in and volunteer — no special skills, experience, or big time commitment required.

Ready to get started? It only takes three steps.
All Alameda Unified school volunteers first complete a quick clearance through Arbiter. Head to the district’s Arbiter page and create your account:
💡 Save on fingerprinting! Go to Western Notary Services (only 2 blocks from Edison!) for an AUSD rate of $69

🎓 Free Mandated Reporter Training: Complete it online at Keenan SafeSchools
Time: about 67 minutes
🩺 Easy TB Test: Most volunteers just need a quick TB risk assessment, not a skin or blood test. Print the TB Risk Assessment form and have it signed by your GP (General Practitioner), or walk in to Carbon Health – Alameda Landing (2690 Fifth St). You can also book a visit at One Medical. A test is only needed if the assessment flags a risk.
a. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the level (usually L2):
- Level 2 (L2) — In-class: Choose this for most volunteering opportunities, including classroom help, events, and campus activities.
- Level 3 (L3) — Driving: Choose this in addition if you’d also like to drive students (for example, on field trips).
Not sure which to pick? Choose L2 to cover most opportunities — you can always add L3 later if you’d like to drive.
b. Scroll to the bottom of the page again, select Create Account, then register for Edison Elementary:
c. Follow the prompts to complete your application. See tips at the top regarding the LiveScan, Mandated Reporter Training, and TB Test.
Konstella is where most volunteer opportunities are announced, so this one’s a must! Konstella is app-based — here’s how to join Edison’s community:
